The
Nissan RB Six Cylinder inline Series engine
powering the range of various Skylines, is the
most renowned in the Skyline
GT-R.
The RB26DETT
is acknowledged to be one of the worlds great
engineering marvels fitted as standard
producing 206 kW limited by a Japan only
manufacturers gentleman's agreement.
The RB range has many
robust variations based on the capacities of
2600 cc's in the RB26, 2500cc's in the RB25
and 2000cc's in the RB20.
In Australia
there was also an RB30DET powering a GM Holden
VL model that had to be detuned to reduce
power so the V8 model would help the GM
advertising agency to sell as the top of
class.
The actual
capacity is a few cc's less on each but close
enough to indicate the model.
There are other series
as well of very popular powerplants in
many other models of performance oriented
Nissans. These include the SR20DET,
FJ20DET & CA18DET representing the four
cylinder class and VQ35DET & VQ35DETT with
six cylinder V configuration.
